2004 Homecoming Report

The annual homecoming was held at the community center on October 3rd of this year. The weather was very nice and there were 74 registered guests. As always, however, some people forgot to register, and it appeared there were about 80 to 85 men, women and children in attendance.

Several of the Perkins girls were there, and they're always in a good mood. Only Ginny (Virginia Miller) of the three Breedlove girls made it this year. We missed seeing any of the McRuiz boys. Henry called earlier saying he would not be able to make it because of foot problems. I'm sure he'll make it next year, along with Albert and William. Robert Bocell and his son and daughter were in attendance, and it was very good to see them. None of the Johnson family were there, but they live in El Paso now, and that's a very long drive.

The beautiful, hand-stitched, queen size quilt was won by Mrs. Terry Garrett of Athens. Several hundred tickets were sold for donations. It appeared more food was on the tables than ever before. There were some 32 desserts of different kinds and everybody ate too much!

A lot of talking over old times about Baxter and the school was enjoyed by all. We're already making plans for next year and hope you will do the same!
